Michelle Obama talks about the importance of having a group of girlfriends, or a Girl Gang, who have known you forever and act as sounding boards or call you out when you’re making bad decisions. Having survived the crucible of early adulthood, my Girl Gang does this for me. Far more than that, they support me in ways that new friends aren’t able to, simply because the weight of time is not yet part of the new relationships.
